Readers' Revamp Your Chance to Make Over Classic Performance Products' '62 Impala

By R&C Staff

There is a lot of room for improvement in the handling department. The Impala was leaning so much it looked like our wheelman, Nick Licata, was hittin' the switches and making it dance.
Ordinarily, cars go from mild to wild behind closed doors in garages and shops all across the country. Once they are finished, we're sure that most of you say to yourself that if it were your car, you would have done something differently. Well now is your chance to give some input on somebody else's buildup--before it's too late. We present to you the first chapter in the saga of one super-clean, yet very bland stock '62 Impala.

At this point the white Chevy is one big blank canvas, but with your help and the talented crew at Classic Performance Products we hope to change that really soon. We want to hear from you as to the way you would like to see the Impala built. Should it be a boulevard cruiser, a full-on show car, or a canyon-carving performance machine? CPP will be supplying all the necessary chassis modifications, pieces, and spinning the wrenches on all the upgrades, while owner Jim Reis stands back and lets YOU tell us what should be done to his car.

We have already taken it out to the track to get the baseline performance numbers and we can safely say there's really only one way to go with them. To get you thinking, we've also commissioned some super-cool artist renderings by Ron Spaulding as inspiration for different directions the car might take. We want to hear any story ideas and suggestions you might have as to the things you've been itching to see in R&C. Maybe we can make it happen on Project '62. We are now waiting for your input, so tell us which illustration you like the best and the modifications you would like to see done. Then stand back as we let the metal fly and turn this stocker into a stunner!

Here are the results of our poll.
